Lighter Hair

Yes, I did it again, I dyed my hair a lighter shade of ash brown. I liked my hair really dark but I feel comfortable with it lighter, I feel back to normal now :)

I used L'oreals Light ash brown and then added about 5 packets of foil highlights to the front of my hair so that I could have lighter shades of brown running through it, to lift it a little.

I did all of this myself at home, with no help!

It's not a drastic change, but lighter hair just feels fresher for the summer - for me, for some reason! I can wear black now without feeling like I look like I'm going to a funeral.
In these photos, my hair has been washed, and then blasted dry with the hairdryer and I run a fat bristle brush through it, just to style it a little, oh and I applied a tiny bit of coconut oil to my hair whilst it was damp.

On to the makeup! I got all Illamasqua'ed up...

Face Base: Bobbi Brown skin foundation, Elf concealer under the eyes.

Cheeks: Illamasqua powdered metal Erzule, to contour and bronze. Nars Sertao as blush. Loving this combo!

Eyes: Illamasqua pigment Furore all over lid and Erzule blended into crease. UD Zero on upper and lower lashline, L'oreal telescopic explosion mascara.

Lips: Illamasqua Soul sheer lipgloss. (I think this would look amazing over something like Gosh Darling) It's soo pretty! L'oreal Cappuccino lipliner.

Your hair looks fab! Was it difficult to get the lighter color to take on top of the dark shade?

@fantastic not at all, my hair lightens really easily, i only left the bleach in for 5 mins! it's weird ppl look at me and go - "ur hairs never gonna get lighter" and then withing 2 mins the colour changes!

@rebecca thanks hun :)

I really like this lighter colour on you! More natural looking and it compliments your skin tone, makes you look browner! Though you are already so olive toned!

Honey, your foundation is too light for your skin tone. Your face and neck don't much. You have too much skin highlighter that it's making your blemishes obvious. Your skin and hair look greasy. I'm just saying. I hope you don't mind.

Gorgeous, you really suit this colour and your make up is stunning as always x x x

Your hair looks so gorgeous like that..I love the subtle lighter shade..as you said that is great for summer

@A I don't mind u saying.... But the foundation isn't lighter.. It's just that I applied extra fake tan to my body :) I'm not even wearing highlighter on my face. My hair is just shiney and my face is always well moisturisered... I prefer this look to a dry cakey look anyday.. It's just a matter of preference! Oh and with regards to my blemishes... Unfortunately I'm having a hormonal breakout on the sides of my face and as u know u can't cover up texture! :(

@lottieb & Imo thank u :)

@sherona lol will the story ever end :) ? X

Next step in your hair history would be to go really light. I think you could pull off a light brown/dark blond. Your eye colour would definitely work in your favor.

bubblegarm said...

@ana maria ooo that would be an adventure :) i dont think i'm brave enough! but thanks for the motivation xx

Stunning, very exotic looking. I dye my own hair too but havn't tried foil highlighting, do you just buy a lighter brown shade(or a blonde shade and don't leave it on long) and select some strands to do? xXx

bubblegarm said...

@lucifire o used powder bleach and cream peroxide, foil highlights r harder than they sound, I would recommend u get them done by a professional if u haven't done it b4. I do my mums all the time. Thanks for the compliment :) x
