FOTD with Revlon colorstay!

So it's been two days in a row that I have tried the Revlon colorstay... It's a whole new world to me!

Here's what I'm wearing on my face today:

Face: Revlon colorstay foundation & BB creamy concealer under the eyes.
Cheeks: Bobbi Brown cream blush stick in Dusty Mauve (a brownish colour) to contour & Elf all over color stick in "Pink Lemonade" (a frosty pink colour) on the apples of my cheeks.
Lips: Revlon Nude Attitude lipstick (my first time wearing this too, I actually really like it so far)
Eyes: Benefit eye bright on waterline & inner corners of my eye. Body shop shimmer cubes applied with fingers on my eyelid & bodyshop define & lengthen mascara.

My initial thoughts on the Revlon colorstay is that it's a really thick foundation compared to the Bobbi Brown foundations that I am used to. It actually feels like you have foundation on your face, the way I have solved this is to apply it with a Mac 187 brush for a lighter application. However, the coverage is amazing, I have never really got this with any other. Yesterday, I set it with some msf natural & it lasted all day, once I came to remove my makeup I actually saw everything coming off. Whereas with the Bobbi Brown ones they tend to disappear more quickly.

The texture of it is quite gloopy, it does not run and only a tiny amount is needed as a little goes a long way. The finish of it is actually matt and creates a fantastic base. Even though I have dry skin I opted for the combination/oily option as I decided this would be more suitable as I would probably wear this on a night out where I become hot & sweaty anyway.

I really love this foundation but I don't think I will be wearing this on a daily basis, as it's just too much for me. I prefer a lighter formula during the day. However, I am yet to try this mixed with my moisturiser to sheer it down. If that doesn't work then I will be re purchasing either the BB moisture rich foundation or tinted moisturiser. I do think that this is a fantastic product for the price, I would definitely wear this on a special occasion where I want my face to be flawless and I will more than likely repurchase! A big thank you to Anna for persuading me to buy this! :)

UK price: £11.74

Hope this helps!

What a gorgeous look, so fresh and 'bright'! I purchased the Nude Attitude a couple of weeks ago but sadly it doesn't suit my uber pale skin tone :-( x

yes it is very heavy so i tend to mix mine :) Such a pretty look, very fresh and bright

@makeup crunch thanks, yes nude attitude is rather pale looking, i only dabbed mine on to avoid looking like a whacko! :) xx

@superficialgirl yes, i think mixing would be great :) thank you! the brightness is due to the benefit eye bright :) x

grrrr I am sick of the crappy exchange rate we have. Revlon colorstay is €17.50 in all the shops which makes it quite expensive for a drugstore brand.

I bought Colour Stay too and like you, I'm only using it for evenings and nights out as it is a bit thicker than what I usually wear in the day time. Your skin looks flawless with it!

The colourstay looks great on you!...I tried it but ended up bringing it back as I found it dried pretty quickly and was almost hard to blend...but it looks good on you!

Have you seen any of the new colours from the MAC collection due in stores August 20th? They look amazing check out my blog for Tiffany's video haul on some of the new products she got at the prelaunch party!

I love Revelon Colorstay and can't believe I only discovered it in April! It's so annoying I can't get my shade here in the UK.

That MU look is really nice on you.

Great review and post.. i wanted to try it but i think its too thick for my tastes. Gonna stick with the BB and maybelline i use when i can be bothered to put on foundation!! xx

Yay! I'm glad you like it, I'm exactly on the same page...I have to apply it lightly, its very thick! If I go for a super duper glammed out look for night time, I'll cake it on. The coverage is amazing!

You look beautiful..as always! Love the blush! I might need to invest!

I love this foundation! I do only apply it where I need it so i dont feel too caked. You look so pretty in your photos! xx

Thanks for ur feedback girls!

@vexinthecity well im even more late :)

@Tali definately too thick, surprisingly i hated the maybelline one, it was way too velvety and had a weird texture.

@Katrina yay, it's great - nice to know that i'm not alon in my thoughts :)

@Jo many thanks :))))

Oooh you are wearing your earrings!! I love them on you actually this is exactly how I would have worn them ;) And this review is so funny, it's pretty much exactly how I feel about it! I see it as my "winter" foundation or my "special event" foundation...LOL we are long lost sisters I think!! You look stunning, I want that Benefit eyebright now!! xoxo

It's definaately too heavy for me and very matte looking so I mix it in with my moisturiser which makes it soooo much easier to blend and feels lighter and if I need extra coverage I can just use a concealer or apply another layer of it in that particular area. Thanks for the post (= Also, I am following you now on twitter haha I never knew you had it I'm glad I've found you. Take care. (=

I am going to try the BB foundation when I finish my mufe hd. I have skin that is drier than the sahara. I think it sounds like I might like the luminous or the moisture rich.

I've been using 4ever! I put in a moisturizer or strobe moisturizer to thin it out. The foundation can be mixed for different finishes!

Looks great on you, flawless.

This is my ALL TIME favorite foundation as well! :) It's great stuff!

Aleksis said...

I am glad that you like the foundation. I got the dry skin one and though my skin is combination it isnt greasy feeling at all. I like that it has natural sunscreen in it and not chemical sunscreen. I wish the packaging was better though.

You look lovely. I may have to try the eyebright liner. Never quite saw how it looks on someone but it looks really nice on you.

Girl With The Golden Touch said...

The lipstick looks amazing on you, I really must try this!

Charlene said...

This really suits you hon, the coverage on you is really nice! I don't find mine heavy but in the hotter times, like now, I mix it with moisturizer and it still evens out my skin and everything! :)

There is a light version of the colostay foundation, we don´t have it here in Germany but I have seen it in the states.
