Coral Cream Blushes

I clearly have an obsession with cream blush, no other make up product excites me more. Powder blush IS lovely, but the consistency of a cream ignites a more youthful appearance making it more desirable.

Coral is the PERFECT summer shade, whether it be on your cheeks, lips or nails. It's a flattering shade for every skin tone and here are a few I have to show you...

  1. Nars - Cactus Flower
  2. Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge - Calypso Coral
  3. Illamasqua - Rude

See swatch comparisons below in the same order listed:

Here's a mini review on all of them:

  • Nars 'Cactus Flower' - The darkest of the 3, it's a true coral shade almost leaning towards the red family. It has tiny flecks of gold which aren't that noticeable once blended as they are very finely milled. The consistency is quite creamy yet dry - it doesn't feel sticky or greasy once you touch it. The pigmentation is out of this world, a little goes a long way. It looks perfect teamed with a gold based highlighter. This lasts all day on me and I never set it with powder.

  • Bobbi Brown 'Calypso Coral' - This is a true bright coral with a tiny bit of pink, it has no shimmer or glitter making it look very natural. It's slightly greasy once you touch it but it blends away leaving a natural finish. It's highly pigmented, with great colour payoff. The colour is buildable depending on the brightness you want to achieve. I apply this with a stippling brush like the Mac 187, it lasts all day and is a multi purpose product that can also be worn on the lips.

  • Illamasqua - 'Rude' - This is the palest of the 3, it's a milky coral that is ever so creamy. It's slightly greasy so it leaves a dewy finish to the cheeks once applied - it looks great on lips too. This doesn't last all day on my cheeks due to the consistency but I don't mind reapplying as I love the colour so much.

Which is my favourite? Don't do this to me, they are all my favourites for different reasons! :)

What's your favourite coral cream blush?

If you are in the US, I would recommend you check out the new NYC cream blushes for dupes, as they look totally gorgeous, check out detailed swatches & reviews HERE from Ebru.

Disclaimer: I was sent the Illamasqua 'Rude' for review purposes

I've been hearing good things about the NYC cream blushes as well! I may have to get a couple to try out on holiday.

I like the NARS Cactus Flower blush - it's good to know that it lasts without a setting powder - otherwise it's too many steps!

I've had my eye on Rude for a while now but it looked a bit orangey in a few swatch pics which put me off a bit :( It looks the PERFECT creamy coral here though! Yet another thing to add to the Illamasqua wishlist! BB's Calypso Coral is lovely too, I tested it on my hand in Selfridges and it was beautiful x

The Bobbi Brown looks gorgeous - do you think it would be too much for pale skin? I've been trying to find a nice coral cream blush, but haven't found the one for me yet!x

They are all beautiful. Usually my skin tends to be oily so I usually stick with powder but the color pay off is so tempting.

Ah I need rude in my life :)

Muhsine said...

@Hell notes for beauty - I would totally recommend nars cream blushes for oily skin, they are like velvet, not greasy or oily. Skip the rest.

They all look lovely. I've actually never tried cream blush but I would like to try "rude" It's such a pretty color but do you think it will be a bad choice for someone with oily skin?

AHHH ive always wanted Nars Cactus Flower. It's a gorgeous color, but now you have me lemming the other two. lol

Lovely choicesss! :)

Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks Doll.

Rude is too pretty for words! I've never actually used a cream blush, but I'm very tempted too now that I've seen that shade.

The NARS blush looks similar to NARS 'Crazed'. I love it!

Muhsine said...

@Schnelle Couture I would avoid rude if you have oily skin as the texture is quite greasy. I would recommend the other 2, nars is the best for oily skin though.

@Kimberley I don't really like powder, but if my foundation looks too glowy I set my T zone with mac msf natural or I have their sheer mystery powder. Both of them don't look cakey and with a light hand look invisible. Or, I would recommend any translucent powder.

@Parisa I will check it out thanks :)

@Andee the bobbi brown one will look gorgeous on you!

Oh my God I love all your Coral blushes!! I think I'll steal them when you're not looking ha ha! I especially love Cactus Flower, has it been discontinued or something? I was at Sephora recently and didn't see this color hmmm It's so pretty! By the way you're such a sweety pie for mentioning me on your post, so honored! :)

Muhsine said...

@Ebru no problem sweetie :) a pleasure. I don't think cactus flower is discontinued, I saw it at my nars counter recently.. not sure :/ xx

i absolutely love love love cream blushes aswell, but am wondering if its a good idea for my acne prone skin?also are they sticky on the face,do they attract dirt n dust...love your blog posts -xx

you always post about things i'm loving right then and there! haha i've been eyeing off the bobbi brown one. glad to know it lasts all day :D

The Illamasqua is a lovely colour, but I can NEVER make their cream blush and highlight products work for me. :0(

Despite having very dry skin, they always feel uncomfortably greasy, transfer onto EVERYTHING, and disappear almost immediately.

How do you make yours stick around for longer than five blumming minutes?
